A concrete mixer is an indispensable assistant in the construction of a country house. But the construction ends sooner or later, and the expensive unit remains without work. How can a cement mixer be used in the household, other than preparing cement mixes? We bring to your attention three non-standard ways of its application.

Abrasive cleaning with wet sand

Work tools must be kept clean, they will last a long time. After work, the inside of the concrete mixer must be thoroughly rinsed with water, removing the adhering cement. If cleaning has not been done, there are several methods for removing hardened concrete from the concrete mixer drum.

  1. Mechanical.

Cement is removed with a chisel and hammer, grinders with a wire brush.

The disadvantage of this method is the risk of damaging the concrete mixer during careless cleaning.

  1. Chemical.

The drum is washed with a special agent or a solution of hydrochloric acid. You must work with a respirator and gloves.

And the third, the most gentle way for the unit to remove cement residues, is cleaning with wet sand or fine gravel. The material is an excellent abrasive that removes dirt in the most remote places.

Procedure.

  1. Sand is loaded into the drum 1-1.5 buckets. Water is added to give the mass a pasty state.
  2. The concrete mixer is turned on for 10 minutes.
  3. Empty the dirty water without removing the sand. Pour in a new batch of liquid.
  4. Turn the device back on.

The procedure is repeated up to 5 times, achieving complete cleaning of the drum.

In addition to cleaning the concrete mixer itself, this method is suitable for removing dirt from small tools: trowels, pickaxes, chisels, chisels. The tools are loaded into the drum with sand and water.

Painting on rubble

Colored gravel is widely used for decorating flower beds (as mulch), driveways, backfilling the banks of artificial reservoirs. Ready-made material is sold in garden stores and is expensive. You can make colored gravel yourself using a household cement mixer.

Sifted and washed crushed stone is suitable for coloring. It is loaded into the drum of a concrete mixer, adding the required amount of primer, and works for 4-5 minutes. The primer will close the pores on the surface of the stone and the paint will be more uniform. Smooth pebbles do not need priming.

For painting crushed stone, acrylic, alkyd paint or enamel is used, 20% of the total weight of the stones. It is poured into a drum filled with crushed stone, the device is turned on for 7-10 minutes. Dry crushed stone on tarpaulin, film or fine mesh

Important! When painting crushed stone in different colors, after each batch the concrete mixer is thoroughly washed from paint.

Mixture of fertilizer, soil, animal feed

Using a concrete mixer, all bulk materials can be mixed in the required proportion:

  • crushed cereals, chalk, fusible, cake and other components for creating homemade food;
  • humus, sand, peat and mineral fertilizers for the preparation of a greenhouse or seedling substrate.

It can be treated with fertilizers or a growth stimulator of a large number of seeds before sowing.

When combining particles of different fractions, you must first load large components into the drum. The fine particles and the liquid component of the mixture are deposited during the twisting process of the aggregate.

Using a concrete mixer for various household needs greatly facilitates work, saves time and money.
