Translate emoji to and from plain English to see what they really mean

Emojis help us express our emotions better online and in text messages when words aren’t enough. Despite this, the complexity of our thoughts and emotions still goes far beyond the limited number of ideograms and emoticons that the keyboard offers on our mobile devices.

Even if you think you’ve only used three or four emojis to accurately convey a particular message, it’s no guarantee that other people will be able to translate your message that easily. Likewise, trying to decipher the message behind the emojis used by others can be just as confusing.

In such cases, the emoji translation tool can come in handy. Check out the following list of emoji translation websites and mobile apps to help you express yourself and transcribe your friends’ messages a little easier.

  • Unable to select emoji from the online gallery when using from a mobile device.

Decodemoji is an easy-to-use web tool that allows you to enter any combination of emojis you want so that they can be translated into plain English (and vice versa). The tool also generates complete sentences, so you’re never left with words and phrases that you don’t quite understand. For example, if you enter a face blowing a kiss, a smiling face with horns and a smiling face with an open mouth and cold sweat, the decoding of this combination of emoticons would look like this: “The kissing face sins happily.”

A fun side project hosted on her personal website, the tool simply replaces some words in any message with emoji, leaving the rest of the unidentifiable or irreplaceable words intact. All you need to do is start typing or copy and paste the text into the Give box. Click the big pink “Copy to Clipboard” button to copy it anywhere.

What do we like?

  • Allows you to edit the translation before copying it.

  • Can generate random offers.

  • Translations appear immediately.

What we don’t like

  • Does not replace emoji words sometimes.

If you have a sentence, a paragraph or even a few pages of words that you want to dress up with emojis, LingoJam’s emoji translator will help you do it with a simple click. While the tool doesn’t completely replace words with emojis, it identifies the correct emojis and then inserts them before and/or after the word to give it a visual accent. Just copy the sentences or paragraphs you want to use, paste them into the text box on the left side of the screen and watch your message on the right come to life instantly with a variety of different emoji.
