In the manufacture of furniture or when decorating, chipboard is often used. It is easily treated even at home. However, if cut incorrectly and imprecisely, cracks, breaks and chips may appear on the surface of the laminate. Therefore, in order to avoid these problems, when sawing chipboard at home, it is necessary to adhere to certain rules and observe certain nuances during work.

Sawing with a scratched marking line

It is possible to cut the chipboard neatly, without the appearance of cracks and chips on its surface, due to scratches. To do this, you need to take a ruler and, using a nail or an awl, scrape out the markup necessary for the bend on the laminate coating.

Then the chipboard must be sawn strictly along the scored line. In this case, the edges of the teeth of the saw used must fall exactly at the place of the scratch. Using this method, you can very well, without any excesses, cut chipboard with a jigsaw or an ordinary handsaw.

Using a jigsaw

For precise sawing of laminated chipboard, you can use an electric jigsaw. At the same time, it should be noted that this tool is better to use for cutting small areas on wood. Also, when using a jigsaw, you should select a file with a small tooth size.

When sawing a laminate floor, the power tool should be moved smoothly, without strong pressure. When cutting chipboard with a jigsaw, it is recommended to set the power tool to low speed.

Sawing with a circular saw

Often, for sawing laminated chipboard at home, circular saws or, as they are also called, circular saws are used. In this case, for the processing of chipboard, using such a power tool, it is better to use a saw blade with small and small teeth.

As a rule, this method of processing chipboard is used in cases where it becomes necessary to make a long straight cut on the slab. In this respect, a circular saw will give a better result than, for example, a jigsaw. To increase the level of cutting precision, it is recommended to use guides and to secure the power tool to a fixed surface, such as a workbench or table.

Undercut sawing

To apply this method, which allows you to carefully cut the chipboard, you need to take a large ruler (tyre), and then securely fix it on the plate with pliers. Trimming of the plate should be done strictly according to the applied markings. After the tire is installed on the marking line, the first cut can be made, the depth of which should be about 6-10 mm. After that, you need to make a second cut and saw off the laminate board.

Router Request

A milling cutter is a special power tool that is actively used in manual wood processing. It is used in curly processing of the product, cutting grooves, edges. It should be noted that before using the router, chipboard must first be processed with a jigsaw, indenting about 3 mm from the marks applied to the plate.

After that, the cut line is aligned with a milling cutter, according to the applied template. For cutting chipboard, it is necessary to use a cutter with a bearing, which allows you to form the depth of the cut to the desired level.

It is worth noting that using a cutter allows you to make complex even curvilinear cuts. However, using this power tool when processing laminated particleboard is a laborious and complex process.
