Apply multiple animation effects

To apply multiple animation effects to an object:

  1. Select a title, picture, picture, or bulleted list to apply the first animation. Select an image by clicking on an object. Select a title or bulleted list by clicking the border of the text box.

  2. Select Animations

  3. Select Add animation

  4. Choose an animation from one of several effect types, such as In, Highlight, Out, or Motion Path.

  5. Select again Add animation and select a different animation effect.

  6. Continue adding animation to create the desired animation.

If you select an animation from the Animation group, it replaces the first animation effect instead of applying additional animation effects.

Change animation effect

After you add multiple animations to an object, change how the animation appears on the slide.

To change how the animation works:

  1. Select Animation panel † The animation panel opens on the right side of the window.

  2. Select the down arrow next to the effect you want to change. From here, change the animation start time, effect parameters, and time.

  3. Select one of the following options to change the animation start time:

    • start clicking : Starts the animation when the mouse is clicked.
    • Start with previous : Run the animation at the same time as the previous animation (this can be another animation on this slide or a slide transition on this slide).
    • Start after previous † Start an animation after the previous animation or transition has completed.
  4. Select Effect parameters to select custom options such as sounds and direction.

  5. Select Time to select custom time settings, such as delay, duration, or repeat.

  6. Change the settings for any effect you’ve applied to the object.

Reorder custom animation effects

After you apply more than one animation to an object, you can change the order of the animation.

To change the animation order:

  1. Choose an animation.

  2. Use the arrows at the top of the animation panel to move the animation up or down in the list.

Apply motion path animation

Motion path animation effects let you move an object around a slide. Adjust these effects as needed.

To create a motion path:

  1. Select the object you want to animate.

  2. Select Animation

  3. In the Animation Gallery, scroll down to “Motion Path” at the bottom of the list and select the motion path you want to use. Choose from lines, arcs, curves, shapes and loops.

To create your own travel path, select Custom path † Then drag to draw the motion path. Click esc when you’re done.

  4. Select Effect parameters to add custom options to the motion path animation. Select to change direction or edit waypoints.

To view a custom animation, select the object and choose Animations Example.
