Automatically add your email recipients to your safe senders list

Outlook has built-in tools that filter spam from your email, but sometimes junk email stays in your inbox and good email messages are moved to your Junk Email folder. To ensure that the correct messages do not end up in the spam folder, Outlook provides a list of: Safe Senders . Messages from these senders are never treated as spam. This list is also used to automatically download deleted images in messages from these senders, although it is set not to do this for privacy reasons.

The instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010; Outlook for Office 365; Outlook for Mac 2016; Outlook for Mac 2011; and Outlook Online.

To enable this feature:

  1. Open a message from the sender you want to whitelist.

  2. Select Additional promotions (three dots to the right of the email) and select Add to Safe Senders .

  3. Select Okay for confirmation.
