Collect email from other POP accounts in Gmail

Some email providers let you forward all their incoming email to your Gmail address, but many don’t offer that convenience. However, almost all of them are available via the POP protocol, which means that Gmail can collect them.

Gmail can even receive email from up to five POP accounts. You can even send email with the addresses of these accounts directly from Gmail. After you set up Gmail to receive email from other accounts, these addresses will appear as options in the By letters you write.

Select your email service from the list or follow the general instructions below.

  • GMXMail

  • Windows Mail

  • Yahoo! mail

To enable Gmail to receive email from an existing POP email account:

  1. Press the button Settings in the top right corner of your Gmail screen.

  2. Select Settings in the menu that appears.

  3. Click the Accounts and Import tab.

  4. Select View email from other accounts

  5. Enter the email address you want to check with Gmail and select Further

  6. Select Import emails from my other account (POP3)

    If you see that the Link accounts to Gmailify option is available: Addresses from some email providers (Yahoo, AOL, Outlook, Hotmail, and a few others) can use Gmailify. Scroll to the top of this article and select your email provider from the list for specific instructions.

  7. Enter user name password pop server and Port information you can find on your email service provider’s website. †

    Choose the options that suit your situation. Gmail recommends using a secure connection and labeling incoming messages. If you are adding this account for backup only, select Archive incoming messages † they go straight to all emails

  8. Select Add Account
