You want to quickly create a presentation, using the color scheme and formatting of another presentation, such as your own design template, complete with brand colors and logo.

If you have an existing PowerPoint presentation that uses the desired design template, it’s an easy process to copy the slide master design, along with fonts, colors, and graphics, into a new presentation.

To do this, open both PowerPoint files and simply copy and paste between them.

Copy master slides in PowerPoint 2016 and 2013

  1. Open a tab Vision presentation that contains the slide master you want to copy from and select slide master near Main species .

  2. In the slide thumbnail panel on the left side of the screen, right-click (or press and hold) the slide master and select To copy . note that in the left pane, the slide master is a larger thumbnail image – you may have to scroll all the way up to see it. Some presentations contain more than one slide master.

  3. On the tab Vision select Switch Windows and select the new presentation where you want to insert the slide master. Note that if you don’t see another PowerPoint presentation in this drop-down menu, it means no other file is open. Now open it and then return to this step to select it from the list.

  4. On the tab Vision new presentation selection button slide master open a tab slide master .

  5. Right click or hold on the panel on the left and select Insert to insert a slide from another presentation.

  6. Now you can choose Close main view to close that newly opened tab in PowerPoint.

Changes made to individual slides in the original presentation, such as font styles, do not affect the design template for that presentation. Therefore, images or font changes added to individual slides are not copied to the new presentation.

Copy master slides in PowerPoint 2010 and 2007

  1. Click or tap a tab Vision in the presentation that contains the slide master you want to copy from and select slide master .

  2. In the slide thumbnail panel on the left side of the screen, right-click or hold the slide master and select To copy . Note that the slider model is the thumbnail at the very top of the page. Some PowerPoint presentations have more than one.

  3. On the tab Vision select Switch Windows and select the new presentation where you want to insert the slide master.

  4. On the tab Vision open a new presentation slide master .

  5. In the thumbnail bar, click or tap the slide master location by right-clicking (or tapping and holding) the blank slide master to select Insert .
    Another option is to click/tap just below the last slide layout and select the brush icon to keep the theme of the presentation you copied from.

  6. On the Slide Master tab select Close main view .
