Create a watermark on PowerPoint 2007 slides

Enlarge your slides with a watermark

A watermark can be added to all slides at once by placing an image on the slide master.

Watermarks can be as simple as a company logo placed in the corner of a slide to identify it as a brand, or it can be a large image that is used as the background for the slide. In the case of a large image, the watermark is often blurred so as not to distract the audience from the content of your slides.

Access to the slide master

  1. Click on the tab Vision on the tape.

  2. Press the button slide master

  3. Select the first thumbnail slide on the left taskbar. This ensures that all slides are affected by the following steps.

Insert an image into the slide master

While still in the slide master:

  1. Click on the tab Insert on the tape.

  2. Select an option under Illustrations on the ribbon, such as ClipArt or Picture

Search ClipArt or Image

  • Using an image

    • If you’re going to use the image as a watermark, find it on your computer and paste it into the slide master.

  • Using Clip Art

    • If you are going to use clipart as a watermark, find a suitable image in it.

    • Click on the selected clip art to insert it into the slide master.

Move and resize watermark

If this watermark is related to a company logo, you can move it to a specific corner on the master slide.

  • Moving picture

    • Move the mouse over the center of the photo.

    • Drag the photo to a new location.

  • Resize an image

    • To resize the photo, drag the selection handle angular to increase or decrease the photo size. Using the angle selector button will keep the aspect ratio of the image correct.

Image format

Once the image is positioned correctly and you are happy with its size, format the image to darken it so that it is less distracting in your presentation.

In the example shown, we’ve enlarged the image so that it takes up most of the slide.

  1. Right click on the image.

  2. Select Formatting image… in the context menu.

Blur image watermark

  1. In the dialog box Image format make sure is selected in the left navigation list Image

  2. Click the drop-down arrow on the button repaint see options.

  3. For this exercise I chose the option money laundering in section Color modes † Depending on your specific presentation, you can choose a different color option.

Adjust color brightness and contrast

Depending on the image selection, the option wash out from the previous step may blur the image too much.

  1. Drag the sliders next to Brightness And Contrast and see the changes in the image.

  2. Press the button close to if you are happy with the result.

Send watermark to Back to Slide Master

The last step is to return the graphic object. This will keep all text boxes at the top of the image.

  1. Right click on the image.

  2. Select Return > Return

  3. Close the slide master

A new watermark image appears on each slide.
