Surely I had to face a situation more than once when in bad lighting there was not enough backlight. Of course, at the most inopportune moment a person is most often unprepared and does not have a lighting device with him. Below we will analyze how to make a simple flashlight yourself that works on ordinary water, which can help if there is no power supply in the absence of a light source alternative.
Battery on the water – description
The principle of operation of such a device is the connection between two different metals using a liquid (ordinary tap water is suitable).
Due to the ongoing oxidative reaction between the metals, a discharge occurs which can start the connected LED inserted inside the circuit of the device.
Thus, the flashlight will work without the use of conventional batteries, but thanks to a homemade voltage converter.
Before proceeding with the assembly, you should prepare a list of the necessary accessories and tools:
- plastic glasses – 2 pieces, 500 ml;
- water – 500 ml;
- small LED;
- 2 piece wires. 15-20cm;
- magnesium alloy – two small bars;
- coal bars – 2 pieces;
- welding tool and everything you need.
When the materials are prepared, you can begin the crafting process.
How to assemble
The assembly of prepared materials is subject to the following order:
- each available bar is sequentially connected to each other by a wire. It turns out a system of two parts of electrodes – on each side of the bar with carbon and magnesium;
- fixing is carried out using a soldering iron;
- an LED bulb is welded to the structure.
The device is ready and ready to use. It is important to follow the safety instructions at each stage of production.
Now you need to draw water into glasses, lower the resulting piece into it. This must be done in the following order:
- first, the magnesium part falls into a glass of water;
- after a charcoal bar.
The condition must be met by lowering the materials into each of the plastic cups, while the lamp must not come into contact with water.
The electrodes must be completely immersed in the liquid. If everything is done correctly, an electric discharge with a power of 2.5 W is activated in the resulting battery, the LED will light up, it will glow saturated and continuous.
During the reaction time, you can see how hydrogen droplets are released from the materials, rising bubbles will be observed in the water. You should not be afraid – it is a natural process, accompanied by the combination of several materials.
Having performed simple manipulations using elementary devices and tools, it will turn out that you will create a useful device with your own hands, which can help you in difficult times.
