Export Email from Thunderbird: Step 1

  • Download mbx2eml and extract it to your desktop.

  • Right click on the desktop.

  • Select New | menu folder.

  • Type “email”.

  • Press Enter.

  • Open the Mozilla Thunderbird storage folder in Windows Explorer.

  • Open the Local Folders folder.

  • Mark all files named as folders in your Mozilla Thunderbird that do not have an extension.

    • For example, exclude “msgFilterRules” and “Inbox.msf” and all other MSF files.

  • Copy or move the selected files to the “mail” folder on your desktop.

  • Open a Command Prompt window (via Start | All Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt).

  • Type “CD”.

  • Drag the “mail” folder from your desktop to the command prompt window.

  • Press Enter in the Command Prompt window.

  • Like “mkdir off”.

  • Press Enter.

  • Now enter “..mbx2eml * out”.

  • Press Enter.

  • Open the mail folder on your desktop.

  • Open the “off” folder.

  • From the “from” subfolders, drag and drop the .eml files into the desired folders in Outlook Express.
