Resend messages so recipients can reply to the original sender
When you forward a message in Outlook, it is surrounded by headers and the message is sent by you, not the original sender. If the recipient wants to reply to this original sender, they must find the address in the email. Redirect the message instead. The email will not be changed and the recipient can simply reply to the original sender.
The instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007; and Outlook for Office 365.
Redirect email in Outlook
If you want an email to look like it’s from the original sender and not you, you need to redirect it. The email will be resent to the contacts you specified, and those contacts will be able to reply to the original sender.
For Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, and 2010
To resend a message in Outlook 2019, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013, or Outlook 2010:
-
Open the message you want to forward in a separate window.
-
Go to the tab Message †
-
In a group Movement select Extra steps to move †
-
Select Forward this message †
-
If you’re not the original sender, Outlook confirms that you want to resend it. Select Yes †
-
Address and edit the message as needed.
-
Select send †
-
Close the original message box.

Alternatively, if you’re having trouble redirecting messages by resending them, you can forward emails as attachments.
Another way to redirect is to use an add-on, such as the Email Redirector for Outlook.
