These Google Drive add-ons are essential for efficiency and ease of use

Authors and communicators do everything they can to get a story or message across. Whether you use the free online Google Docs program or the Google G Suite Business Suite, add-ons can make this process a lot easier.

Add-ons are tools that you can add to the toolbar of your Google app, as opposed to a template, which is a pre-made document. You may have heard of so-called third-party add-ons, applications or extensions. Each office software package has its own terminology.

Most users can sign in to Google Docs using Google Drive or Gmail.

What do we like?

  • Significantly improves navigation in multi-page documents.

What we don’t like

  • Slow when working with long documents.

  • Shows only the first level headings.

  • There are no customization options.

What do we like?

  • Checks documents for plagiarism, dismissals, grammatical errors and more.

  • Works as a personal editor and writing coach.

What we don’t like

  • Almost all features require a paid premium upgrade.

  • The free version only checks the first 500 words of a document.

  • All participants must be able to connect to video conferences.

  • There is no critical path option.

Most authors or other authors manage multiple projects simultaneously, individually or as part of a team.

  • Provides rhyming words for each highlighted word in the document.

  • Provides words with a similar ending for the selected word.

What we don’t like

  • Suggested rhymes are not prioritized on how well they rhyme with the chosen word.

  • Does not define suggested words.
