Highlight text when sending messages with Yahoo Mail
Yahoo Mail offers several ways to highlight text when writing a message. For example, you can highlight text by adding a background color. There are even keyboard shortcuts for underline, bold, and italics.
The instructions in this article apply to the standard web version of Yahoo Mail. Yahoo Mail Basic and the Yahoo Mail mobile app offer limited formatting options.
How to Underline, Bold, or Italicize in Yahoo Mail
Select the text you want to format and enter one of the following keyboard shortcuts:
-
Click ctrl+b (Windows, Linux) or Command+B (Mac) for bold text.
-
Click Ctrl+I (Windows, Linux) or Command + I (Mac) to italicize.
-
Click Ctrl+U (Windows, Linux) or Command+U (Mac) for underlined text.
Bold and italics are best for full sentences, as underlining can make text difficult to read. It is more appropriate to emphasize individual words (for example, new terms).
How to highlight text with color
To activate text by changing the background color:
-
Highlight the text and click the button Text color on the toolbar.
-
Choose the color you want for the text itself in the section Text .
-
Choose a highlight color (for text background) in the section Backlight .
Not all email programs will display your highlights or other text formatting.
You can also change the fonts in Yahoo Mail or even use ready-made shipping supplies.
