How to Access GMX Mail in Gmail

If you use both Gmail and GMX Mail email addresses, it can be inconvenient to check your email in both places. Fortunately, you can set up Gmail to receive (and even send from your address) GMX emails from Gmail. So you can use both services from just one interface. Gmail can even automatically label all your GMX Mail messages so that they all appear in the same place in Gmail, keeping your inbox organized.

Enable IMAP and POP3 on GMX

Before Gmail can access your email from GMX, you must grant it access. For security reasons, GMX disables IMAP and POP3 access by default. So you have to manually enable them first.

  1. Open GMX and log in.

  2. Select Institutions in the menu on the left side of the screen.

  3. On the page Institutions find POP3 & IMAP in the left menu and select it.

  4. You will be taken to a page with information about using POP and IMAP. Select Enable access to this account via POP3 and IMAP

  5. Then click Save to make the change permanent.

Open GMX in Gmail

You can now turn your attention to Gmail to link it to your GMX account. To set up POP access to your GMX Mail account in Gmail:

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account.

  2. Select settings gear icon in the upper right corner.

  3. Choose from the menu Institutions

  4. On the page Institutions Select Gmail Tab Accounts and Import

  5. On the tab Accounts and Import find Import email and contacts † Then select Import from another address

  6. A new window will open. Enter your GMX mailing address (for example, “[email protected]”). When you’re done, click Get on

  7. On the next screen, enter your GMX Mail password under password and press again Get on

  8. Gmail will be logged into your GMX account. It will then offer you several synchronization options. Choose what you need and click Start import

  9. Once Gmail is set up, it will send you a success message stating that it will import your messages. Click Okay to finish.

If you have a lot of messages, it can take a long time to send them to Gmail.

  10. You will return to the settings page Accounts and Import † You will now see your GMX account as an alias from which to send email, and next to: Import email and contacts
