Show a list of letters with a larger or smaller font

If you find it difficult to read text in your Outlook message list or if it doesn’t look right, change the font size, font, or font style. The font can be changed for any specific folder you want. For example, increase the font for your Inbox and Drafts folders to make these messages stand out.

The instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2007; and Outlook for Office 365.

How to Change Font Size in Outlook Email Address List

Changing the font size in a message list is different from changing the font size of an email. When you change the font for the message list, the font for the email body does not change.

To change the appearance of the font in the message list:

  1. Open the folder whose font you want to change and go to the tab Vision .

  2. In Group Current display select Show settings . Select in Outlook 2007 Vision > current display > Customize current view .

  3. In the dialog box Advanced display settings select Other settings .

  4. In the dialog box Other settings select String Font .

    To change the font of the column headings, select Column Font . This changes the appearance of the sender’s name that appears above the subject line in the email list.

  5. In the dialog box Font style select the desired one Font style , Font style and The size .

  6. Select Okay .

  7. In the dialog box Other settings select Okay .

  8. In the dialog box Advanced display settings select Okay .

  9. The email list for the folder displays the font format you selected.

  10. Changing the font format for certain folders gives each folder a different look so that you remember which folder you are viewing.

How to apply these changes to each folder?

To apply font changes to multiple folders:

  1. Select the folder where you applied the font changes.

  2. Go to the tab Vision and choose Change perspective > Apply current view to other mail folders .

  3. In the dialog box Apply display check the box next to each folder you want to apply the new style to.

    Select Apply view to subfolders if you want subfolders to use the same font size, type, and style.

  4. Click Okay when you’re done.
