How to Convert Endnotes and Endnotes in Word 2010

So you just finished your course and read the directions again and noticed that the professor wants you to use footnotes and you have created footnotes. Or maybe the other way around – you’ve been using footnotes and now you realize you need to use footnotes. Fortunately, you can easily convert these footnotes into footnotes and vice versa with just a few clicks.

Convert all footnotes to footnotes or vice versa

As mentioned in the introduction, you can convert your footnotes to footnotes or footnotes to footnotes in just a few clicks.

  1. Press the button Show Footnotes and Footnotes Dialog Box in the lower-right corner of the footnotes section of the Links tab.

  2. Press the button transform .

  3. Select Convert all footnotes to footnotes , Convert all footnotes to footnotes or Editing footnotes and footnotes .

  4. Click Okay .

Convert single footnote to footnote or vice versa

You can also convert one footnote or endnote to another. This is useful if you have used footnotes, such as definitions or explanatory text fragments, and have used footnotes for references. It’s easy to make a mistake and insert a footnote where a footnote should be or vice versa.

  1. Click Drought on the “View” tab in the “Document View” section. You must be in draft mode to complete this procedure.

  2. Click Show notes on the “References” tab in the “Footnotes” section.

  3. Select the footnote or footnote you want to convert in the Notes area.

  4. Right click on the highlighted note and select Convert to Footnote or Convert to Footnote . Your footnote or endnote is now converted.

  5. Repeat the above steps for any remaining footnotes and endnotes you need to convert.
