How to delete a Yandex.Mail account

If you’re a Yandex.Mail user, you know that the popular free email client from Russian Yandex offers many of the same features like POP, IMAP, filtering, and unlimited storage as other email heavyweights. However, if you need to close your account, Yandex makes the process fairly simple. It’s also permanent: it deletes your account and all messages associated with it (including folders and shortcuts).

Here’s how to cancel your Yandex.Mail account:

  1. Log in to the Yandex.Mail account you want to delete.

  2. Select your email address and avatar in the top right corner of Yandex.Mail.

  3. Select account settings in the menu that appears.

  4. Scroll to the end account settings † Select at the bottom of the page Remove Account light gray.

  5. Yandex will take you to the account deletion page. View the list below The following Yandex services are currently active in your account: † Copy any data you want to keep from one of these services. Yandex deletes all listed data.

  6. Scroll down the page. Enter the generated code and answer your security question.

  7. If you are absolutely sure, click Remove Account

  8. Yandex will ask you one last time if you are sure you want to delete your account. Select Remove Account one more time to wrap it up.

That’s all. Your Yandex.Mail account has been closed. From now on, no one will be able to recreate an account with your credentials, and anyone who sends an email to the account will receive a delivery error message.
