How to Export Outlook Contacts to CSV File

Create a contact list to use in Excel

To back up your Outlook contacts or use them in another application or service, export your Outlook Address Book in CSV format. Outlook makes the process quick and easy.

The instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010, and Outlook for Office 365.

Convert contact list to CSV file

To export contact lists, open Outlook and follow these steps:

  1. Go to the tab File and select Open and Export

  2. Select Import Export to start with it Import and Export Wizard

  3. Select Export to file and then select Further

  4. Select Comma separated values and then select Further

  5. Highlight a folder Contacts for your email account, then select Further

  6. Select Overview

  7. In the dialog box Overview navigate to the folder where you want to save the file, enter a name for the file and select Okay

  8. Select Further

  9. Select Finished † The CSV file will be exported to the location you specified.
