Send your email wherever you want

Outlook.com can automatically forward incoming messages to another email address (on Outlook.com or elsewhere). Set it to forward all incoming emails. Or use messaging rules to forward only email messages that meet certain criteria.

The instructions in this article apply to Outlook on the web.

Forward email from Outlook.com to another email address

Set up Outlook on the web (on Outlook.com) to automatically forward received emails to another email address.

  1. Select the gear icon for settings ( ) in Outlook on the web toolbar.

  2. Select View all Outlook settings

  3. In the dialog box Settings select mail Forward

  4. Check box Enable forwarding

    Uncheck the box Enable forwarding to prevent Outlook on the web from forwarding any more messages.

  5. Enter E-mail address The who will receive the forwarded emails.

  6. If you want to keep a copy of the forwarded messages in your Outlook account, check the box Save a copy of forwarded messages

    If the check box Save a copy of forwarded messages is not installed, forwarded email will not be available in your Outlook account (not even in the Deleted Items folder).

  7. Select Save

Forward specific emails with a rule in Outlook.com

To set up an Outlook on the web rule that forwards specific messages (based on multiple criteria) to an email address:

  1. Select Settings View all Outlook settings

  2. Select mail Rules

  3. Select Add new rule

  4. Enter descriptive name for the new rule. Choose a name that helps you remember how the rule is used.

  5. Click the drop-down arrow To add and select an email forwarding method.

    • Select Has an attachment to forward all emails with attachments.

    • Select By to forward all emails from a specific sender.

    • Select Interest to forward only emails marked as important.

    To forward the message, all conditions must be met.

  6. Click the drop-down arrow Add action and select the format of the forwarded message:

    • Select forward if you want messages to be forwarded via email.

    • Select Forward as attachment to forward entire emails as unmodified attachments.

  7. Enter E-mail address where new messages that meet the rule should be sent automatically.

    If you want to forward the letter to more than one person, enter several addresses.

  8. To prevent forwarding emails that meet certain criteria:

    1. Select Add an exception

    2. Click the drop-down arrow choose one and select the desired condition. For example, choose Sensitivity to exclude messages with a certain priority.

    3. Click the drop-down arrow Choose an option and select the desired option. For example, choose Private to exclude messages marked as private.

  9. Select Save
