Don’t let reading your Outlook email give you a headache

As monitors get bigger, resolution increases; This makes the images clear and sharp. Unfortunately, this increase in resolution results in a decrease in text size on the screen. This can make it difficult to read text in emails with standard font sizes. If the text is too small, increase the font size in Outlook.

The instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010, and Outlook for Office 365.

Increase font size when reading email in Outlook

To read email in larger font in Outlook:

  1. Double click on a message to open it in a separate window.

  2. Go to the tab Message

  3. Select increase

  4. Click up arrow per cent to increase text size, or down arrow per cent to decrease the text size.

  5. Select Okay

While reading messages in the reading pane, zoom in on the email using the zoom slider. Or click on ctrl by moving the mouse wheel over the message text area to increase the font size.

What to do if increasing font size in Outlook not working?

Unfortunately, in some letters the font is specified so that it cannot be changed. If you receive emails with fixed-size fonts, use a viewing lens, such as the built-in magnifying glass in Windows or the free Virtual Magnifying Glass app.

You can also change the size and style of the message list in Outlook.
