What’s in a Yahoo Mail Header
The header information includes when the email was sent, the IP address of the sending server, and when the recipient received the message.
Knowing the IP address of the server from which the message was sent can be useful if you suspect that the real identity of the sender has been forged or spoofed. You can search by IP address (listed next to X Origin IP: ) using a service like WhatIsMyIPAddress.com to determine if it is legitimate.
For example, if you notice that your bank has sent you a strange email and you want to know who actually sent the message, you can check the IP address in the header. If you notice that the IP address points to a server from a different domain than your bank’s website, the message may not come from your bank.
