Brighten up any conversation

GIFs are short videos that you can send to people. Sometimes they help to understand better than words. But mostly they are sent because they are funny and stupid. Let’s see how to send GIFs on iPhone and Android.

Send GIFs on iOS

Sending GIFs via SMS may no longer be available on iPhone. Apple has a GIF feature built into their app Messages that makes GIFs for text messages a breeze. The following steps work for iOS 10 and newer.

  1. Open the app Messages .

  2. Press the button To write (square with pencil) in the top right corner.

  3. Enter the name of the person you want to send the message to.

  4. Press the button Application Drawer (triangle) on the left.

  5. Press the button #Pictures (magnifying glass) below.

  6. Enter a search term for the GIF.

  7. Click on the GIF you want to send.

  8. Press the button send (arrow up).

    Are # images missing?

    If you’re missing #image buttons in the app drawer, follow these steps to install:

  9. Click the icon Application Drawer (triangle).

  10. Then swipe left on the app drawer and press the button Lake (…)

  11. Click Change and then press the plus sign ( + ) to add an app #Pictures .

Send GIFs to Android

With Android devices, you have several options for text GIFs. Using the built-in application Messages very similar to the iPhone Messages . The following steps work for Android Oreo and newer (unless otherwise noted).

  1. Open app drawer (if it’s not on the main screen).

  2. Open Messages .

  3. Click on icon speech bubble at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Enter the name of the person you want to send the text to.

  5. Press the button Get started .

  6. Click the built-in GIF (smiley) button in the text input field by clicking it.

    For Android Nougat: Click the button smiley and then click the button gif .

    You can view stickers or GIFs.

    Or click the search button to find a specific GIF.

  7. Enter the desired text, then swipe to find the GIF.

  8. Click on the desired GIF.

  9. Press the button send (looks like a paper airplane or a triangle).

    Press the button G (Google search).

  11. Enter the desired text.

  12. Then swipe to find the GIF you want.

  13. Click on the desired GIF.

  14. If installed gboard

    Gboard is the best way to use GIFs in Android Marshmallow.

    Click smiley on keyboard.

  15. Swipe to view stickers or GIFs.

  16. Or enter text to find the desired GIF.

  17. Click to select a GIF.

  18. Press the button send .
