Software productivity solutions for your Windows Mobile device

Windows Phone, in both the Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 smartphone versions, comes with its own office productivity suite in the form of Microsoft Office apps. The Windows 10 mobile platform includes apps for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, as well as OneDrive and Skype for Business, which are available to download for free from the Windows Store.

In addition, the Windows Store has a Mail and Calendar app that syncs with Exchange accounts and the Office 365 Admin app to manage the deployment of Office 365 subscription services.

Since the global market share of smartphones with Windows 10 (or Windows 8.1 Mobile) is very small, not many developers have focused on this platform. However, owners of Windows Phone devices can still use their mobile browser to access other office applications through the browser interface.

Microsoft Office Applications

If you want to improve the productivity of Windows Phone, the best place to start is with the software manufacturer’s own solution: Microsoft Office. The Windows Store offers Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

Depending on where you bought your Windows Phone, these apps may already have been downloaded to your device.

Office 365 subscription with Office Mobile apps

If you’re an Office 365 subscriber, you can also use your mobile browser to access Office apps over the web instead of the mobile app – a handy feature if your device is already downloaded and you’re using the (big) native Office -app needs to uninstall applications.

This mobile install for Office 365 is also available for other mobile operating systems: the Microsoft Office mobile app for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and iPad Mini, and the Microsoft Office mobile app for Android.

Google Docs and Google Apps

Web-based Google Docs and Google mobile apps are available through the Google Drive cloud, accessed through a web interface.

Different versions offer different accessibility features. The free version is impressive and the compatibility issues continue to diminish, but you can also buy a subscription for a business version similar to Office 365.

ThinkFreeOffice (Web)

This free online package requires a login and includes a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation interface.

Zoho Office Online – FREE

Zoho is basically a system with many applications, including productivity applications Zoho Office. The Writer and Spreadsheets applications are accessible through a convenient, uncluttered web interface.
