Don’t underestimate the importance of your opening message
OKCupid, an online dating site and app, has a DoubleTake Swipe interface in addition to the classic matchmaking interface. Some of these changes affect how the messaging system works. If you’re new to OKCupid, here’s how to get started with the service and its messaging feature.
Set up your profile on the OKCupid website
Create a free OKCupid account online or download the app on your iOS or Android mobile device and create your account there.

In DoubleTake, OKCupid presents a photo of one member at a time.
To find a match online:

If DoubleTake swiping isn’t your thing, use a match search to filter out exactly the features you do and don’t want.
To use internet matching:
Go to page Correspondence overview .
Choose an icon Advanced filters .
Enter search parameters and select Search to see matches.
To use the app:
Click magnifying glass in the bottom navigation bar to go to the page Detection .
Click on the icon at the top of the page to open the filter screen.
Choose from a variety of OKCupid offer filters.
Go to profile anyone who interests you and click the button Like it .
Send a first introduction message to OKCupid
Find the person you’re looking for on OKCupid with DoubleTake or Match Search and Like it . Someone has to like you before you can send an introductory message. Here’s how:
On the web, select the icon stars in the top right corner of the web page to go to the page Like it . In the application, click on the icon stars to find the profile of someone you like.
Press the button Message in the profile.
Write and send an introductory message.
You can only send one first message, so do it well. Until you like the person, you won’t see their profile or your message. If someone doesn’t love you anymore, you won’t see their profile anymore and that person won’t see yours.
If the person loves you, you can send additional messages back and forth.
View new posts in DoubleTake
When someone sends you a message, a notification appears on their profile along with a photo They messaged you . OKCupid puts anyone who messages you at the top of the DoubleTake queue.
On the web, the notification will automatically appear below the photos on DoubleTake. To see the sender’s full profile, select View profile to view the full profile.
In the OKCupid app, tap take double cards to view the sender’s profile and message.
Reply to message
Reply to a message from the sender’s profile page. To view your posts online, go to Conversations . In the app, click speech bubble .
