Play PowerPoint sound and animation at the same time

Have you tried playing a sound on a PowerPoint slide at the same time as the animation, but it just doesn’t work?

This is another one of those little PowerPoint puzzles. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It all depends on the method you use to have the music play along with the animation.

To do this, let’s first show you how to set it up incorrectly.

Steps to play the sound along with the animation

  1. Add animation to an object on a slide (whether it’s a text box or a graphical object like a picture or an Excel chart).

  2. Place the sound file on the slide.

  3. Click on the tab Animations on the tape.

  4. On the right side of the ribbon in the section Extended animation Press on the button Animation panel Animation panel opens on the right side of the screen.

  5. IN Animation panels click the drop-down arrow to the right of the list for the sound file you added. (A sound file can have a generic name or a specific name, depending on which sound file is used.)

The item in this parameter list is called Start with previous † If this option is selected, the sound file is assumed to be played at the same time as the animation (previous item). That’s where the problem comes in.

Reason why sound won’t play with PowerPoint animation

  1. Follow steps 1 – 5 on the previous page. All these steps work fine. The problem occurs if you then select the option Start with previous in the drop-down menu.

  2. Check the slideshow by pressing the hotkey F5 to start the slideshow and you will notice that the sound not playable with animation on this slide.
    Remark † Start a slideshow with: current slide if the slide with the sound file is not the first slide, use the keyboard. Keyboard Shortcut Shift+F5

  3. IN Animation panels click the drop-down arrow next to the audio file and select Sync… † A dialog box will open Play audio

  4. Click on the tab Time in dialog boxes.

  5. Refer to the image above and note that: with previous selected next to selection Get started:

  6. The most important : Note that the selection Animate as part of a click sequence selected NOT This is the reason why your music or sound file did not play. This option must be selected and must be chosen if there was no minor fault in this programming function,
  7. Select Animate as part of a click sequence and press the button Okay † Problem solved.

Save steps to play sound at the same time as PowerPoint animation

  1. Follow steps 1-5 on the first page of this manual.

  2. IN Animation panels Select option Time … in the list of options for the sound file.

  3. In the opened dialog Play audio select with previous next to the option Get started:

  4. note that Animation as part of a click sequence is automatically selected. It is well.

  5. Press the button Okay to apply these settings and close the dialog box.

  6. Test the slideshow by pressing the key. to push F5 to start the show from the beginning, or press the hotkey instead Shift+F5 to start from the current slide if that slide is not the first slide.

  7. The sound should play with animation as intended.
