PowerPoint Slideshow Loop

PowerPoint slide shows are not always used by a live presenter. A slideshow set to a continuous loop can be played unattended in a booth or kiosk. You can even save it as a video to share.

The instructions in this article apply to PowerPoint 2019, PowerPoint 2016, PowerPoint 2013, PowerPoint 2010, PowerPoint for Office 365, PowerPoint 2019 for Mac, PowerPoint 2016 for Mac, and PowerPoint for Mac 2011.

Create your own PowerPoint slideshow

To create a continuously repeating presentation, you need to set it up and capture the timing of the slides.

To run your slideshow unattended, set a time for automatic slide transitions and animations.

Set up your presentation

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation that you want to loop continuously.

  2. Go to slideshow .

  3. Select Customize your slideshow . The Show Settings dialog box opens.

  4. Select View in kiosk (full screen) . This allows the presentation to be repeated continuously until the viewer clicks . press esc .

  5. Select Okay .

Rehearsal and time registration

To make sure your automated presentation is the right length, note the time to set how long each slide stays on the screen.

PowerPoint for Mac does not have a rehearsal option. Go to instead transitions select the desired transition, set the desired duration and select Apply to everyone .

  1. Go to the first slide of the presentation.

  2. Go to slideshow .

  3. Select rehearsal time . The slideshow starts and records the time spent on the slide. The time is displayed in the field slide time on the recording toolbar.

  4. Select Further on the recording toolbar to go to the next slide.

  5. Select Pause at any time to pause or resume recording.

  6. Enter a time interval in the field slide time if you want the slide to show for a specified amount of time.

  7. Select To repeat if you want to restart the recording time for the current slide only.

  8. Select close to when you are done recording.

  9. You will be asked if you want to save the new slide times. Select Yes to save the slideshow time at the end of the presentation.

If you have a microphone (built-in or external), record a voiceover over your PowerPoint presentation as it plays in a continuous slideshow.
