Probably every master dreams of having a universal tool in his arsenal that can replace a grinder, chisel, saw and even a grinder. However, the restorer, the multi-tool, the vibrating cutter and the oscillator cannot yet boast of special popularity, because experts consider this device at best only an addition to the main tool, and to the worse, a useless thing. The truth, as always, lies in the middle. After all, the restorer was created to solve certain problems and works more efficiently with a wide choice of special rather than basic nozzles.

  • a Wood saws
  • 2 Concrete nozzles
  • 3 For surface grinding
  • four For metal cutting

Wood saws

Currently, the multitool is most often used for working with wood. After all, this versatile tool is quite capable of replacing the classic jigsaw. Let the renovator cut the wood a little quieter, but this multifunctional tool will process the piece in hard-to-reach places with filigree precision, make a neat round recess and cut the door frame, and also cut the board and the plinth flush.

The main thing is to get the right set of nozzles, which can be of the following types:

  • straight (saw blades, scrapers, etc.) – used for cutting grooves and holes, as well as for end-cutting wood;
  • semi-disc (cropped disc) – designed for sawing wooden and other surfaces at right angles;
  • disc (reminiscent of an ordinary angle grinder disc) – most suitable for direct cutting of wood.
Attention!!! When choosing an accessory for the restorer, pay special attention to the fasteners, as this multi-tool has a unique mounting groove that does not match the universal pliers.

A separate line should highlight the sharpening and length of the teeth, which can be from 0.7 to 2.6 mm. For effective work with soft wood species (linden, aspen, etc.), nozzles with long teeth are more suitable, and when processing hardwood blanks (oak, mountain ash, beech, etc.) it is it is better to choose files with a short tooth.

Concrete nozzles

The multi-tool is also suitable for cutting solid building materials, including concrete and tiles. However, in this case, the tool heads are used with a special coating of hard alloys, diamond chips and Pobedit.

However, even with such equipment, the renovator is significantly inferior to the usual angle grinder in terms of speed. But it significantly surpasses its competitor in terms of accuracy and cleanliness of work, especially when shearing walls or cleaning tile joints, as well as for final finishing (grinding) of concrete.

For surface grinding

As equipment for the renovator, when finishing metal and wooden surfaces, special substrates are used (in the form of a triangle, “ironing” and circle), on which sandpaper is attached with Velcro or a lock. The surface of these tool heads can be solid or perforated. There are also special nozzles on sale, the shape of which allows you to process particularly difficult places (grooves, recesses, etc.).

For metal cutting

Metalworking equipment for a multi-tool practically does not differ from files for wood. However, these nozzles have very small teeth, and there is a special marking in the form of the inscription Metal.

At the same time, it should be borne in mind that the vibrating cutter, when cutting metal, is inferior to the grinder in all respects. Therefore, it is recommended to use this multifunctional tool for such purposes only in exceptional cases:

  • sawing nails and fasteners;
  • pipe cutting;
  • sheet metal cutting.

But such nozzles for the oscillator are very effective when cutting “softer” materials.

We hope the information in this article will help remodeler owners put together the right set of bits to dramatically improve the performance of this versatile tool.
