It’s easy to switch formatting modes in Yahoo Mail
People are used to sending and receiving email messages with rich text, including text formatting, embedded photos, links, and scenic backgrounds. But plain text still has its uses. Yahoo Mail allows you to send any format.
Why use plain text?
The rich text format is the standard email format, but you can sometimes still use the old version. Here are some benefits for plain text.
Advanced email filters identify rich text emails as “commercial” and often filter them out. Marketing surveys also show that people open emails less often than regular emails.
Some people prefer to receive plain text emails. If you know what the recipient of the letters you write prefers, you can respond to that.
If you regularly send a lot of email and bandwidth is an issue, using plain text emails will minimize the problem as they have much less data requirements.
Send a plain message from Yahoo Mail
To create a text message or convert an email to plain text in Yahoo! Mail:
Press the button To create in Yahoo Mail to create a new email.
Enter text and other content in the body of the email, then click three dots icon for more options.
Select flat text in the window that opens. The icon looks like a capital T with a small cross next to it.
Click Okay Get on.
When your message is converted to plain text, it loses all formatting (bold, italics, etc.), hyperlinks, and inline graphics. You will not lose the files that you have separately attached to the email.
Switch back to rich text
You can go back to text formatting if you change your mind. Click the Rich Text button at the bottom of the compose window. It looks like a capital T with a small plus sign.
If you add rich text elements to an email and then switch it back and forth to plain text, your formatting and links will not reappear.
