Use plain text in webmail to eliminate unwanted formatting and code
A plain text message doesn’t rely on fancy fonts, colors, images, and emojis for impact and impact. An added benefit is that plain text emails don’t send dangerous, redundant, or unwanted code. Plain text emails can be read by any email client and are easy to compose in Outlook Mail on the web.
The instructions in this article apply to Outlook.com and Outlook Online.
Send a plain text email from Outlook Mail on the web
To write and send an email that uses only plain text from Outlook Mail on the web:

Select A new message † Or select a message and select Answer or forward †
The message can be opened in the reading pane or in a separate window.

Select Additional promotions † ) on the message toolbar.

Select Switch to plain text †
When the menu shows Go to HTML but no Go to normal text the email will be sent in plain text only.

When prompted to confirm your choice, select Okay †

Compose a message and select send †
Send plain text messages in Outlook Mail on the web
To set Outlook Online to use plain text by default for new emails:

Select Settings (gear icon ⚙️).

Select View all Outlook settings †

Go to page mail † Create and reply †

In chapter Message format select drop-down arrow Create posts in and choose Flat text †

Select Save †

Close the dialog Settings †
