Use the cloud to share videos too large to attach to email

Before deciding how to email your video, make sure the file isn’t too large. E-mail providers limit the size of files attached to e-mail messages, and your friends may not be able to receive large video files.

How to deal with large video files

If your video file is too large to be sent as an email attachment, you have several options:

  • Use a compression app to compress and shrink the video file. File compression applications place the original file in a ZIP file. When you email a ZIP file, your recipient must unzip the file to unzip and view it.

  • Upload large video files to cloud storage. When a video is stored in the cloud, include a link to the video in your email. Your recipient selects the link and goes to the file, but everything stays in the cloud.

Send a video with Gmail

  12. An email has been sent to your recipient.
