Select a Gmail contact to chat

Then select a Gmail contact to chat with from the available contacts. Double click on their name to continue.

What’s with the green dot?

A chat box will appear in the lower-right corner of Gmail, addressed to the Gmail contact you selected to chat with.

Type your first message in the text box provided and press Enter on your keyboard to send the message.
