Add Microsoft Word to your game with these keyboard shortcuts
Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing programs out there. Whether you’re entering a contract or a simple to-do list, Word has many of the tools you need to do it all. Sometimes, though, you can take advantage of a little extra boost outside of the tools in the toolbar; Word is full of hidden shortcuts that you can use to improve your productivity and speed up your work.
The instructions in this article apply to Word 2019, Word 2016, and Word for Mac.
Save your own word format
Have you ever used Microsoft Word to create the same document over and over? Perhaps you create weekly employee reports or a monthly newsletter. Either way, you can easily create these documents while keeping your own formatting in Word.
Want to save more than your own layout? You can create your own Word template to use in creating future documents. This allows you to save the entire document instead of formatting the text.
In the document you want to save in the new format, select Style panel at the far right of the toolbar.
Select A new style at the top of the Styles pane.
In this window, enter a new name for your formatting in the field provided.
Give your layout pattern a name that explains what it is used for. Be as specific as possible to find it later.
Select Okay † Now you have a quick style that is easily accessible from the style panel whenever you need it again! To use formatting, select it in the Styles panel.

Word combinations to fix multiple errors at once
Did you misspell the word you used throughout the document? You do not need to check and manually correct the document. Instead, use Word’s Find and Replace tool to fix each error at once.
Use find and replace in Word for Mac
In your document, click Change † Find † To replace †
In the Find and Replace window, type the word you want to replace it with in the first text box, and then type the word you want to replace it with in the second box.
You can use the search and replace tool for more than just words. In the same field where you enter the word to replace, click the drop-down list to see the various formatting options (such as paragraph marks) that you can also replace.
To replace them one by one, click To replace † To replace them all at once, click replace everything †
It is always better to go back and verify that your changes are correct, especially when creating important documents.

Using Find and Replace in Word for Windows
Find the tab in your document At home † Then select To replace †
Enter the phrase you want to replace in the “Search” field. Type the new text in the “Replace with” field.
Select To replace to replace a single error, or select replace everything to replace all errors at once.
Quickly view additional information about a Word document
If word count and other details about your document are important, there’s an easier way to view it than navigating through different screens and menus.
In your document, locate the toolbar at the bottom of the Word document window. Here you can see the page number, word count, etc.
The traditional method of viewing this information requires a few clicks in the “Tools” section in Word. This method uses a simple click.
Select word count tool † Here you can see additional information about your document, such as number of characters, number of paragraphs, and more.

Pin a frequently used document file in Word
Is there a Word document you often use for reference or as a template? You can easily pin this document to your recent files folder for quick access when you need it.
If you are in the current document, select File †
You do not need to be in the current document to access the Recent section. Just open Word and go to the next step.
Select recent and scroll until you find the document you want to pin, or search in the search box.
When you find the document you want to attach, select the icon Icon to the right of the document.
To view pinned documents, select pinned at the top of the Recents window.
To remove a document from a pinned section, select the icon again Pin †
Now your important documents are always at hand.
