Why does NASA want to explore the ocean?

To search ‘NASA‘online produces a huge number of results, including a mountain of people asking why NASA wants to explore the ocean. It’s an interesting question, of course, but not for a reason you might think. It’s no secret that Earth is a fascinating planet with an extremely rich history. It’s the only known planet in the universe with life, mammoth dinosaurs have roamed its surface for thousands of years, and Earth’s location has changed dramatically from grace to continental distraction over the course of two years.

But in almost every part of the planet, Earth’s oceans remain absolutely enticing. This happens largely because the vast majority of the oceans remain unexplored. Thanks to a combination of extremely deep water, low pressure and lack of sunlight, more than 80% of the total oceans on Earth are a total mystery. As you might expect, this strangeness around the ocean gave way to the imagination of some people running fast.

An example of this is the probing question ‘Why did NASA want to explore the ocean?’ Some people believe that NASA was created to explore the Earth’s oceans, but after it started doing so, it turned its attention to central space. As strange as a story is, there is no truth in it. NASA was founded in 1958 in direct response to the launch of the Sputnik I satellite in the Soviet Union. Since 1958 and here in 2022, NASA’s sole purpose has always been to explore space. Embora the organization to help create meteorological satellites for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), NASA has never been used to survey or explore the oceans.

As a matter of course, the question ‘Why does NASA want to explore the ocean’ started popping up today thanks to a viral video from TikTok. In March 2021, TikTok’s account ‘memes_to_click’ sent a review video “NASA’s original mission was to explore the oceans.” The video jumps almost immediately into conspiracy theory territory, saying: “Elas [NASA] they won’t tell us what they found, but their plans will abruptly change to get us to this planet or as soon as possible.”

And this isn’t the only video about NASA’s ocean exploration. Here appears a TikTok from February 2022 “You are not alone on Earth. The plague is on their feet. NASA knows that.” But a TikTok video from July 2021 says NASA examined a series of ships that disappeared in the 1980s, discovered a “huge unknown species,” and tried to explore the oceans from then on.

They are well-known stories. The US government has created an organization to explore the depths of the ocean, but after the exploration began, NASA discovered something so terrible that it began searching inner space to take humans off Earth. No, that’s all – a story. It’s a false story. NASA’s history has been well documented for two years, and at one point it is confirmed that the organization was founded to explore oceans. Visit the NASA site today. In the words of the NASA project, “NASA is a US government agency responsible for science and technology related to air and space. The space age began in 1957 with the launch of the Soviet satellite Sputnik. † There are no oceans to fall.

If NASA has never explored the oceans, why are so many people saying the opposite? As with anything online, everything starts to get attention. A conspiracy against NASA to abruptly interrupt ocean exploration is an easy way to get opinions on TikTok, Twitter, or any other social platform. As long as people keep clicking and watching these kinds of videos, they will keep coming.

NASA is an impressive organization for an infinite number of reasons. It placed the first human on the moon, pushed the first rover to Mars, and undermined a major role in conquests such as Hubble and the International Space Station. Ocean research, however, is not part of its history. That’s the opposite of what some people believe, but it’s true. There is something, that is a section not to get parts of TikTok’s history.
